Happy New Year 2017!

Inventory vintage trailer awnings are underway for 2017.
As I go through my 2016 left over inventory of fabric rolls, I will not only be making vintage trailer awnings, but also VW Westfalia awnings too.
I used the last of the Sunbrella marine grade awning fabric for two Baycrest Pacific awnings, one for a vintage trailer and the other for a vintage VW Bus.

Westfalia V W Bus Awnings Van

This year I made a prototype awning for a vintage Westfalia VW Bus. Here is a picture of my first V W Bus Awning order being field tested on a vintage Westfalia. dfoster@bellsouth.net

sold 7 1/2' x 7 1/2' Arched V W Bus Awning boxed and ready to mail. This "As Is" V W Bus arched awning has a slight imperfection in the fabric. The factory missed it and so did I! I tried to take pictures of it, with a flashlight behind area, but appears indistinguishable.

Since then I have been contacted about designing a VW Bus Awning for a more modern year with a different rain gutter size. So that is also in the works.

Some questions that I had answered about the vintage Westfalia awning:
1) The pop-top on the VW needs to be up slightly to install the awning.
2) The side door slides easily with the awning installed.
3) The pop-top on the VW can close down over the pole in the rain gutter.
4) The second set-up was much easier than the first set-up, once the customer understood how it all worked.
5)The rain gutter size was changed in the 80's, but not sure exactly what year.

7 1/2' x 7 1/2' Awning with Fringe For Sale

This is the last of my Sattler 364-643 marine grade awning fabric and coordinating pink fringe. The fringe has been sprayed with a UV and waterproofing treatment, to prevent fading and quicker drying after a shower.
This awning has pockets in all four corners, in case you decide to add shock poles. (Shock poles are not included)
There is an extension cord in the facing along the trailer edge for connecting string lights. You can either add name badge clips for vintage string lights, or shower curtain clips for the more modern string lights. A flap has been added along the facing for attaching the clips. The vinyl welt slides into a c-channel awning rail with a 3/8" diameter opening on the end. To make your own poles, use fiberglass tent pole with a 7/16" diameter to arch the awning up for more height underneath and incline for rain run-off. Approximately 136" for each pole is estimated. If you have a slightly curved roof-line on your trailer they will be a few inches shorter.
Shown is the flap for attaching clips, facing with pockets for shock poles and the extension cord for connecting string lights SOLD

Sattler awning fabric is equally vibrant on both sides of the fabric. SOLD

New Optional Features On Vintage Trailer Awnings By Kristi

New optional features are now available when ordering a Vintage Trailer Awning by Kristi. I will now be incorporating these new useful features into custom orders upon request.

Attach name badge clips to the awning flap and then snap on your vintage string awning lights
I have added a narrow flap for attaching vintage string lights. Clasp your name badge clips onto the flap, then snap your vintage string lights on.

The flap is sewn along the extension cord channel, which is designed to hold a light weight indoor/outdoor cord.

The channel along the trailer edge of the Vintage Trailer Awning by Kristi is designed to hold an indoor/outdoor, white, light weight, extension cord for your vintage string lights to plug into.

Vintage Trailer Awnings by Kristi has also added this useful feature to the awning. It is a pull-along tab for a tent pole tip. It also is a de-flapper tab. On extremely windy days, if your awning is flapping wildly, you can stake out extra tie-down lines connecting to these tabs.

More Inventions In Progress

As each year comes and goes, Vintage Trailer Awnings by Kristi continues to add different items up for sale.
This year's invention was the Avion window awning with support arms, which also works on other windows with similar features.

Now, I am working on the prototype for a Volkswagen Bus awning. Which is almost complete.
Forgive me if I do not show detailed pictures of some of my inventions. I am well aware that everything I post is eventually copied.
Facings surround the underside for added structure, reinforcement for the grommets, and where the shock pole pockets are formed.

Shock poles are inserted into the hidden pockets made into the facings. Hidden pockets so the awning can be set up flat or arched.

Custom sized the shock poles and tried them out today.

Shock poles provide incline for rain run off and extra height underneath.

Waiting on a few more supplies to arrive in the mail, then my prototype will be ready to field test.

This is a Sunbrella Yellow/White 6 Bar  VW Westfalia Awning which was just mailed out . This volunteer will be taking pictures for me and field testing the awning.
