July 2022 Mid Year Update On Available Vintage Awnings

 At this point in time, I have three 10' x 8' Inventory Awnings available for sale.

I just finished a Navy Taupe Fancy Stripe Sunbrella marine grade awning fabric 10' x 8' awning which is for sale.

I also have two arched awnings available. One is Beaufort Ember and the other is Sunbrella Americana. Since USPS just raised their postage fees, shipping the shock poles is pricey. However, both of these awnings can be used as traditional flat awnings without the shock poles, for the budget minded consumer.

An arched awning slides into a straight c-channel awning rail with a 3/8" diameter opening on the end. The shock poles are measured to be the correct length ONLY for a straight/ level rail.

 This week I am working on the Sunbrella Beaufort Ember marine grade awning fabric that is remaining, in my inventory.

So far, it looks like I will be able to make an 8' x 8' SOLD vintage trailer awning, a 7 1/2' X 8' vintage camper awning, and maybe one other smaller retro style trailer awning.

Three Vintage Trailer Awnings Are Available For Sale 2022 Spring Camping Season

 These Vintage Trailer Awnings by Kristi are made with Sunbrella marine grade awning fabric. The first vintage camper awning is Sunbrella pattern Black Forest Fancy Stripe. This one is 7 1/2' x 8'

Scalloped valances on three sides edged with Sunbrella braid trim to coordinate

The vinyl welt slides into a c-channel awning rail with a 3/8" diameter opening on the end

The c-channel awning rail needs to have a 7 1/2' section that is relatively straight, not curved.

Facings along the perimeter of the underside add extra structure and reinforcement for the 2 brass grommets

On the 10' x 8' awning, there are three grommets for three adjustable height tent poles, which are not included. When selecting an adjustable height tent pole, be sure it extends high enough for the type of trailer that you own. An awning rail that is high off of the ground, will need a longer telescoping tent pole than a small trailer with a lower awning rail.

Springtime 2022 Arched Vintage Trailer Awnings For Sale

I was able to acquire some shorter length fiberglass shock pole sections, which fit into a large flat rate USPS priority mail box with the arched awning. This will save on shipping costs anywhere in the USA.

 

There is a tie strap and a Velcro strap to secure where the shock poles cross

 

This set of blue fiberglass shock poles had a little surface corrosion from warehouse storage. I used a Magic Eraser to make them look better, no pitting.

Pockets formed in the facings, on the underside of the trailer awning, for the fiberglass shock poles to insert into.

An arched vintage trailer awning slides into a c-channel awning rail with a 3/8" diameter opening on the end. An arched awning needs a straight level awning rail for at least the same length as the awning. The largest arched awnings that I make are 8' along the rail.

What Is Different About An Arched Vintage Trailer Awning?

 Right from the start, arched vintage trailer  awnings are made differently from traditional flat trailer awnings.

 Arched Vintage Trailer Awnings have pockets formed in the facings that surround the underside of the awning. The shock poles cross and seat into the corner pockets. dfoster@bellsouth.net

Arched vintage camper awnings have a tie strap centered on the underside, to keep the shock poles from sliding out of position.

In the front corners of an arched vintage trailer awning, the pockets are hidden in the facings, so when using the awning without the shock poles the differences aren't noticeable.

Measuring the shock poles, for each individual arched vintage trailer awning, is always a challenge. 

The shock poles need to be just the right length to arch the awning upward providing extra height underneath and incline for rain run off. dfoster@bellsouth.net

An arched vintage trailer awning, is suitable for the straight / level section of a c-channel  awning rail. The largest arched awnings that I make are the 8' x 8'size.

Springtime brings strong winds and heavy rain, so think about adding some springs to you tie-down lines. The longer, steel tent stakes grip the deeper level of top soil, when the top layer gets soggy from the rain

When the rain is pouring, and the winds are blowing at gale force, I lower all of the tent poles, and add bungee cords over the grommets, to keep the awning from slipping over the tent pole tips. Lowering all of the adjustable height tent poles, allows for quick rain run off during a downpour.
