Expand Your Outdoor Living Space with a Vintage Trailer Awning

Invest in a vintage trailer awning and expand your outdoor living space, while camping in your vintage trailer. Attach a Sunbrella vintage look awning to your vintage RV and instantly turn a sweltering, sunny, campsite into a shaded, ultra-violet protected, retreat from the sun.

AAA's RV Plus Emergency Roadside Assistance

We experienced our first major tire blowout, on our 25' dual axle vintage Avion camper, coming home from our camping trip in Cherokee NC. As it occurred, our 4000 pound vintage trailer clanked, quivered, and shook, but never fishtailed out of control.

Vintage Trailer Awning with Period Correct Design

First, I purchased a 13-foot vintage camper, a Canned Ham called a Tag-A-Long. This vintage trailer had a 9-foot awning rail, but not a rope and pole awning. In my eBay search for a vintage awning, I was lucky enough to find an original vintage rope and pole awning that was period appropriate and exactly the right size. However, once it arrived, I was disappointed at the tattered, faded condition it was in. The decision was made to copy the design and make myself a replica, using Sunbrella Marine Grade Awning Fabric instead of heavy canvas. I used all technologically advanced weather resistant materials, yet stayed true to the period correct vintage awning design. Vintage Look Awnings originated from this basic plan.

Update: Vintage Trailer Awnings by Kristi is the business name that is currently being used to distinguish my awning business from others that  have followed.

What Does It Take ?

I started my Vintage Trailer Awnings by Kristi business over a decade ago, with a vintage sewing machine, a sharp pair of scissors, and dream. dfoster@bellsouth.net

What does it take to turn a creative idea into a reality? First, you need to recognize what your own unique abilities and talents are. Then consider what could be done constructively with those skills. Dream, plan, envision, research, obsess for a while. Let your enthusiasm build, see the possibilities. Most importantly, think of the gratification and satisfaction of doing something you love. Achieve your goal. Make it a reality.

Custom Vintage Look Rope and Pole Awnings

I was like a little kid in a candy shoppe, as I tried to decide which vertical striped Sunbrella  patterns to buy. Re-stocking my Sunbrella fabric inventory, from a wide assortment of patterns, was so much fun. Now, many more yards of beautiful, striped, marine grade, awning material are available for my customers to choose from, for their own custom awning. All the way home, I kept imagining each different pattern made into a gorgeous vintage look awning.

Vintage Camper Rally at Misty River TN

Misty River RV Park in TN was the location of the first vintage trailer rally that I have ever attended. I recently had some business cards printed, so I was able to distribute them during the tour of vintage trailers. Campers were able to view the vintage look awnings I had on display and ask questions about the fabric and the construction. It was a great way to meet people, have fun, and to let other campers know where they can find vintage looking rope and pole awnings for their trailers. dfoster@bellsouth.net
