As we enter into the 2020 camping season, here is a review for setting up an arched awning:
I am able to set up an 8' x 8' arched awning alone, and I am only 5' 2' tall.
This is
the safest way that I have found to put it up.
1)Stake
the adjustable height tent poles out, with the poles in a lowered
position and the tie-down lines as loose as possible. (PICTURED)
2)From
the ground, insert the metal shock pole tip into the corner pocket
next to the trailer.

3)Walk
the pole over to the front opposite pocket and insert the rubber end
into the pocket. You may need to slant the tent pole to get shock
pole into the pocket.
4)Repeat
with other shock pole.

5)From
a step ladder, swing the shock poles into the upward position. Secure
with a Velcro strap and then tie the braid trim around where the
poles cross.
6) Once
they are arched into the upward position, and look like the attached
picture, climb down ladder.
7)
Carefully adjust the height of the tent poles into a higher position.
A little on each pole at a time, until the valances hang level.
8)The
tie-down lines need to REMAIN SLACK. If the tie down lines are too
tight, the shock poles will seem to be too long. You will crack the
fiberglass poles if you force them.

9) The center grommet is NOT to be used for an arched awning. It is
only there for setting the awning up in a traditional flat style. Do
not even stake out a tie-down line to the center grommet when the
awning is arched.
