 Recently in 2021 I finished several VW Bus awnings. I make my VW Bus awnings with pockets for shock poles.  When the shock poles are inserted into the pockets, they swing upward arching the awning. This provides extra height underneath and incline for rain run off.

VW Bus Arched Awning by Kristi For Sale

7 1/2' x 7 1/2' attaches to rain gutter with a variety of different types of connectors. Placed in the rain gutter, behind the cab door and extends toward end of the bus.

Because Many VW Bus shows are set up on concrete or hard packed soil, the shock poles provide the tension for a taut awning. Weighted tie-down lines, to help prevent the wind from flipping the awning, are still recommended. dfoster@bellsouth.net

Ready To Mail Vintage Trailer Awnings are now available on eBay seller dlf1954

Under construction are two awnings. Both vintage trailer awnings measure 7 1/2' along the rail,  extending out 8'.  One vintage trailer awning is Sunbrella Mediterranean Canvas Block Stripe, which is almost completed. The other awning is Cooper Black, with tan accent stripes.

I have been making Sunbrella marine grade awning fabric awnings, using pattern Colonnade Seaglass.

 I wasn't sure how much time I would have to devote to custom orders this year, so I decided to make inventory awnings and use up some of my fabric.

 I have been busy caring for my elderly parents. Next, I will be helping my daughter move. 

Almost mid-year and I have found time to make about 30 awnings. So, I decided to order some more Sunbrella marine grade awning fabric. Working with the warehouse to see what they have that I like.

Supplimenting My Awning Fabric Inventory

 Been in contact with the warehouse, in an attempt to get some more Sunbrella marine grade awning fabric. Looks like they are mailing out a roll of Saxon Cascade, which has been a popular pattern for vintage trailer awnings this year. I have also asked for a few other patterns, which customers have requested for vintage camper awnings.

This year, I have been making awnings from fabric already existing in my inventory of Sunbrella patterns. It has been difficult adding more awning material to my supply, during the pandemic. Hopefully, this is finally coming to an end.

Back To Work Again After Vacation

 I have returned from my visit to Florida, and am trying to get Vintage Trailer Awnings by Kristi up and running again. My grandchildren wore me out!

I have ordered more vinyl welt for the awnings, that are in progress. Planning on (2) 8' x 8' awnings to be completed this week.

I removed my eBay listings, while I was away. So, I have been relisting the awnings for sale on eBay, seller dlf1954.

I have (2) 6' x 6' awnings for sale. One awning for sale is Kiawah Spa, the other little awning for sale is Baycrest Pacific.

These little 6' x 6' camper awnings are great for a weekend get-away, when you don't feel like setting up a large awning. They provide protection from the ultra violet rays from the sun, and keep you dry from the rain.

I believe they are the correct size for a 16" Airstream Bambi. Generally with an Airstream, the awning rail is about 10' shorter than the overall length of the trailer. Please measure the length of your c-channel awning rail to be sure. Also, make sure the opening on the end of the awning rail has a 3/8" diameter, for the vinyl welt to slide into. Over the years, some awning rails have been replaced and may no longer be the original vintage size.

Making Do With Inventory Patterns in 2021

 As a new long term care provider for my elderly parents, I wasn't sure how much time I would have to devote into making vintage trailer awnings. Thankfully, I was able to find and train another caregiver to help. This enabled me to get back to my Vintage Trailer Awnings by Kristi business.

I haven't updated my Vintage Awnings Blog in ages! So if your search has brought you to Vintage Awnings, this is my first entry in 2021. Welcome.

Since January, I have made about 20 awnings. Each retro style awning has been made from my existing inventory of Sunbrella marine grade awning fabric.

During the Pandemic, I was unable to get my usual bulk order of awning fabric. Only a few Sunbrella patterns arrived sporadically throughout 2020. I plan to try again in May of 2021. As more people get vaccinated, hopefully businesses will get their employees back to work. 

I have been doing things a little differently this year. I decided to concentrate my efforts into mostly Inventory Awnings and listing them on eBay. With the mail so slow for paying by check, eBay has the payment options of PayPal or charge cards for instant payments. Plus shipping directly from eBay has been effortless.
