Vintage Trailer Awning Tie Down Line Set-Up and Other Items

Pictured are some of the items that I use while camping, that I am frequently asked about.

Name Badge Clips for hanging vintage string lights onto the valances of a vintage trailer awning.

A pulley and spring on tie-down lines to a vintage trailer awning are recommended when camping in windy weather.

Rope tension adjuster

I clamp this device onto the fabric covered pull cords, butting up to the awning rail, when the awning is centered on the awning rail. It prevents the awning from pulling toward you, when staking out your first tie down line. It also keeps a strong wind from sliding or moving the awning off center during a storm. (It should also clamp onto the ends of an awning with a vinyl welt instead of the fabric covered pull cord)

Incorporating Customer Suggestions Into Next Vintage Trailer Awning

Having just returned from a Vintage Trailer Rally, I am making a prototype vintage trailer awning and incorporating some great customer suggestions. (Sold before I even could finish it!)
 One suggestion was to place de-flapper tie down tabs on the sides of the awning up near the trailer edge. Anyone who has been caught in a wind storm knows what flapping is! These tabs will provide another place for tie down lines to attach.

 The same tabs have a double function, as pull along tabs using the tip of a tent pole. When sliding your awning welt along the c-channel, sometimes it needs a little nudge. Using your tent pole tip inserted into the tab, you can help it along without moving your ladder.

Another idea I am working on today is an extension cord channel and a place along the trailer edge to hang vintage string lights.
It can get unsightly and dangerous with extension cords all over the place, so I thought this was a great suggestion.

Avion With Small Decorative Window Awning

Recently, I created a means to attach small decorative window awnings, without an awning rail or any drilling into the trailer for arm supports. At a Rally I just attended, I had the pleasure of meeting someone who had ordered this type of window awning for their Avion.

Simple Way To Attach Vintage String Lights To A Vintage Trailer Awning

I am always looking for simple, inexpensive, ways to achieve specific tasks. I found a simple way to attach vintage string lights to a vintage trailer awning, by using name badge clips. They work great, are inexpensive, and easy to use.
They clip onto the valances of a vintage trailer awning, then the clear plastic strip unsnaps to accept the connecting wires of the vintage string lights. You can easily move the clips around to allow the vintage string lights to dangle in a visually appealing fashion.

Brain Storming By The Lake With The Volkswagen Buses

Just returned from a small vintage trailer gathering, which included Volkswagen Buses. What a great group of people to spend time relaxing and socializing with. I also had the opportunity to brainstorm and invent a new way to attach an awning to the Volkswagen Bus drip rail. A big thanks to the VW Bus owners who participated in my demonstration of this new concept.
